After I finished university I was given a great job in the field that I had been studying which was food technologies and science. Because Mackay was one of the biggest exporters of sugar and sugar cane products I had to travel their once a month to sample the sugars which were being sent out around the world. Testing the quality of individual ingredients was my new job to make sure that the quality meet with Australian standards. It was a rewarding job that had many perks to it.
Not only did I get to fly all over Australia and to some of the islands I was also given accommodation plus a company credit card and a hire car so that I would not have to spend any of my own money. These perks were exactly what I was looking for when I decided to get into college to be ahead of the rest of the pack.

Never for one minute did I expect to wind up living in a little town like Mackay but now that I have been here for a while I see that it is just like any other beach town but it is just out of the way of the main cities. This was the appeal that interested me the most, the idea of getting out of the smog filled city and finding a comfortable out of the way place where I could see the ocean and do my paintings.
Mackay was the perfect spot to find with complete waterfront access with all the water activities that most beach towns have to offer. There is a tropical rain forest not far away which is a great place to take a nature hike or go looking for wildlife. After several years of this lifestyle I will never want to go back to the rampage of the big towns. Life is meant to be taken slowly and enjoyed to the utmost.
